Analysis of 4 Music Magazines - 2. The Source Drake

Good Points:
The Source magazine is more conventional than the RWD magazine because it has more cover-lines and other key ingredients such as the bar code, QR code and a strap line/skyline, website of the magazine and Facebook and Twitter. The main image is the famous Canadian rapper Drake and next to the rapper's neck is a cover-line in purple which says 'The Encore Drake". The main image and cover-line illustrates that Drake is the new attraction for the magazine and to say the "The Encore" could possibly suggest that the rapper advertised for this magazine before and is back to advertise again or there may be a new album releasing. The photography of the magazine is in high definition which shows its not an authentic everyday picture that is used with a low pixel camera. The main image is a medium shot of Drake but in a direct mode of address. The bar code is needed for retailers to check the number of stock available so this magazine can be sold in shops unlike RWD.The QR code is now used on certain magazines, this code is used for iPhones and Android phones so if this code is scanned then this will direct them to the website of the magazine which is another interactive way to create more sales. The layout of the magazine is different unlike other magazines as the cover-lines are laid out separately but yet we are still able to see Drake's whole body in a slanted shape.

Bad Points:
There are not many bad points that I can pick out but one disadvantage is that the magazine could have had more cover-lines because there is still enough space for this and I believe that the colour schemes should have been varied throughout the cover.
