Production Diary: Lesson Five In The Production of My Music Magazine Double Page Spread...

This lesson, I aimed to finish my double page spread and I added the finishing touches to it to make it look more professional and this is my complete magazine double page spread. I started by changing the font under the headline of the Words and Photography. I moved the headline away from the main image a bit adding captions to both images. I also added a page number at the bottom left corner and I added borders around both images and the factfile on the final right third. I also added a factfile about the model to fill in the final right third. I moved the slogan and the text slightly. I added another page number and I added my magazine masthead at the bottom. I also changed the captions in both images. I also moved the headline so the space in the right third is not left empty. I also changed the big 'D' so its with the text.

This is the questionnaire I have done for my music magazine audience and this will help me decide on the genre of my magazine and the overall house style. I decided to keep this short and simple as I did not want to bore my surveyors.

This lesson, I tidied up my spread by writing the remainder of the text and by making minor adjustments. I also added another image to the spread yet I am still unsure about this as I feel this shows no significance within the double page spread so I may reconsider this. Next lesson, I will aim to completely finish my double page spread adding the finishing touches to make my spread look more professional.

This lesson, I started by adding the remainder of the text for the spread. I also changed the thickness of the line underneath the headline on top. I also changed the font for the Words and Photography under the headline. I also added a slogan which says "You can't put a man in a room with no subwoofers" and this is said by the model of my spread. I used a drop shadow effect on this but I also considered using this effect on the text but this will not compliment the slogan well. Next lesson, I will decide on what is left to add to the spread.

      This lesson, I started adding text to my double page spread yet this still needs to be completed and I also added who the text was written by and who done the photography for the images within this page spread. The improvements for next lesson would be to add more text to a completion standard, a catchphrase or some sort of slogan under the headline, possibly more images on the spread and maybe a background.

Production Diary: Lesson One In The Production of My Music Magazine Double Page Spread....

This is the start of my double page spread. I started by using a white background adding an image of my model and used a techno font with a gold/brown colour scheme on the 'LIES HEAL' with a bevel and emboss effect using a inner and outer shadow. I then differentiated the colour schemes to purple and red on 'RT SPEAKS MUSIC' and then I used a line under this. This still needs completion which will be done in the next lesson.

This lesson, I spent time adding the last touches to the contents page. I started adding the final captions on all the images and I started to add the sell-lines. I realigned the sell-lines so they are accurately going straight down and instead of using the same colour on the sell lines which is goldish brown, I complimented the magazine front cover masthead 'Defused' and I used a red colour scheme on it. I added an image to my cover of DJ decks which relates to the sell-line of the History of Dubstep with a caption and I also changed the colour scheme of this from black to white to the red colour scheme in the magazine front cover masthead. I also organised my contents page by sections such as VIP and Features. I used the Mix Mag contents page for inspiration yet I still decided to differ my contents page from Mix Mag. I also took the 'Issue #50' out as I felt this doesn't seem to shown any significance so I moved the Defused masthead from the bottom and placed it in the place of the issue number. I also re-aligned the top sell line about my model. I changed the colour scheme of the dateline to black. I also changed the size of the font on the sell-lines and made it smaller. I also changed the size of the font on the captions in the images and made it bigger. I aligned the text on the features so everything is in line and this expanded the space at the bottom so I moved the caption for the bottom image to the right.
